Junior Secondary: Year 7 to Year 10
Curriculum in the Year 7 to Year 10 phase of learning seeks to recognise and cater for the different stages of development students are experiencing. The knowledge and skills acquired will help prepare students for a rapidly changing society and equip them to be a valuable part of society. The academic emphasis within this area is for students to achieve the best of which they are personally capable whilst we nurture and foster the development of the whole person, recognising the need for a balanced approach to life and study.
Lessons are 60 minutes duration with 5 lessons per day. Saint Mary's Catholic College delivers the Australian Curriculum using a disciplinary approach with specialist teachers.

Senior Secondary: Year 11 to Year 12
Students moving into the Senior phase of learning are offered a wide range of subject choices and access to an outstanding Vocational Education program. The Senior program is designed to allow students to foster their personal talents while achieving high academic results or, to develop skills in more practical subjects. The program is designed to enable students to make suitable choices from the multiple pathways available beyond school.
Students are guided and supported in designing their course of studies.

Each unit has been developed with a notional or minimum learning, teaching and assessment time of 55 hours determined for each General or Applied Syllabus (QCAA QCE Handbook).
QCE credit for VET qualifications is based on the recommended hours of learning as determined by the Queensland Government, Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) (section 2.3.1 of the QCAA QCE Handbook).
